Wood Designer forum
Hello from Acastrian York|Page 3|Forum|WOOD DESIGNER
Thank you Gents,
We’ll be going ahead with this within a month or so.
The first project you converted for me is really impressive, and seems to be working out well at the CNC shop in Leeds.
I’ve just a quick question about edge banding. All my edging is done by the CNC boys so they need to know which edge to finish on a particular board (“1 Long” or “1 Short” suffices on plain boards, but with machined ones they need to know the specific edge).
In the pdf files you sent me the edging list just says “Matching Veneer” in the “Right Edge” column. However on specific drawings in the pdf files this is not the case, but I have noted “face 1” and “face 2” on the drawings….
Can I use one of your files as an example (see attached)? Page 2/15 shows the edging requirements.
Page 6/16 shows the right side, face 1 and is thus correct that the edging goes on the right-hand side of the board as shown.
If we look at page 5/15, however, the right-hand side of this diagram is actually at the back of the unit – it’s the left-hand side that will need edging. Now, this diagram has “face 2” on it, does this make a difference?
Could you shed some light on this and how Polyboard could be set up so that the edge banding requirements are foolproof? Wh is the left side shown as a transparent
Kindest Regards,
Ed

Hi Iago,
Here are the corrected files.

Hi Ness,
Once again – thank you!
The large holes and flower-shape pattern seem to be shown as method 2 – i.e. a circle or shape shown at the final depth of the hole.
This was a method they said they couldn’t work with.
Is there a way of getting these inner tooling holes and patterns to be exported to dxf using method 3, i.e. a pattern drawn on the surface and extruded to the final depth? Similar to how they look in the png. image you kindly sent.
Kind Regards,
Ed
Hi Ness,
Success! Got this from him this afternoon after sending him the file using method 3:
“Ive just imported it, I can force it to get it to work, by telling it to “create geometry Z levels from parallel planes “
Its not how would normally do it but it works,
Can they do another test file with routing in it (such as a rebate), a through hole 100mm diameter and some end boring?”
Could you put together a Polyboard-created dxf with these 3 features on them for me Ness? Exported using the Method 3?
Kind Regards,
Ed
