Yes, I noticed this makes the first step look much better.

We could have added this in StairDesigner and got a better spacing on banisters.

We’ll do that next time round.

I noticed too that you have wedged the risers (and steps I suppose) into the strings.

Is the under side of the stair hidden?

I know this is standard practice in the UK but have always found that the European way, just housing and screwing a couple of steps makes for a cleaner finish and a lot less work. In this way the under side of the stair can be left showing.

Here’s one we made a few years ago.

Most of the steps and risers are just floating with just a couple of screws driven in from underneath  in discrete corners  to fix 2 steps per flight.

What do you think?

All the best,

Ness

You may notice Ness, we pulled back the bottom newel on site to give a bit more access with the bullnose tread.

Bit of a cheat really, as the newel is not far enough into the second tread, but it seemed to work.

Hi All

Very unusually for us, we had a request for a small winder stair for an elderly client.

It’s been years since I did stairs and especially winder ones. So with the help of Ness and the software which to be fair I didnt have time to learn we designed and produced by hand (well routers were used) the set as shown below in under 10 days from start to finish.

It’s a big thumbs up from us to the power of the software, the internet and this group.

And for terry, spot the domino…
