machining shaker doors query|Forum|WOOD DESIGNER

Hi,
This kind of machining is very capricious, and requires perfectly set tools before execution,
In the photo, I see two things, the 4mm tool goes down too low and, therefore, too short in your CNC, and seems not to square the previous machining well, and therefore the diameter must be too large in Vcarve.
For this type of work, I used to make 2 rectangles of 100mm x 100mm on a test panel beforehand
this allows the depth of the tools to be controlled and the diameter
for example
If the rectangle is 99mm x 99mm, then increase the diameter by 0.5mm (i.e. 1mm divided by two)
If the rectangle is 101mm x 101mm, then reduce the tool diameter by 0.5mm
It is more accurate to measure the width with the calliper plate
Cheers, Alex

Hi Alex
hope you are well? we had a session with Ness to set up a shaker door but due to being busy the last couple of months just getting to it now. we router out with a 80mm at 6mm deep then he set up a 4mm end mill tool to go 6mm also to square the edges
I am attaching 2 pictures on the first one the 4mm end mill did not go down enough so we adjusted in vcarve to 6.1mm but in picture 2 this has gone down to far, what do you think has happened??
i will also send you the vcarve file to see for yourself the door and toolpath
Thanks Caroline
