Hi Greg,

Thanks for leaving this introduction. You’ve clearly got a wealth of experience yourself, and it’s great to have you join our community. We’ll start rolling out the members area of the site soon with lots more resources for you.

If there are woodwork projects you’re working on, have completed in the past or are planning, please feel free to add some pictures in the Showcase section of the forum for feedback.

We’ve also got a Requests section in the forum if there is particular content you’d like us to consider adding in the future.

Finally, don’t hesitate to add your own advice if you spot a issue raised on the forum you can help with.

For my part, I’m looking after the development of the WoodDesigner.org website, so any queries on how things work or suggestions, particularly in this pre launch testing phase, please just let me know via the contact form in the top navigation bar.

All the best,

Hello Greg,

Nice to see you on the forum.

I hope that you find lots of interesting information here and that we can mutually share our thoughts and experience and move forwards together.

I have seen your question in the stair section and will try to answer tomorrow.

All the best,

Hello to everyone.  My name is Greg Brophey. Journeyman carpenter starting in 1972 here in USA. Staircase design and tangent hand railing have brought me here and Ness’s knowledge of using CAD with tangent hand railing was something I had never seen before. I became obsessed with this and the beautiful stairways he had built. He has brought 18th Century stair building into the computer age and I am extremely impressed and obsessed to learn with his knowledge in this field.  I also now have a very keen interest in furniture build and design. My carpentry background is more in the industrial and commercial areas of carpentry, both working and supervision in (hospitals, schools, bridges, concrete form work), while also being a residential home building contractor here in OHIO. Right now as I speak, home building in the USA is spotty at best, with select areas being somewhat busy. Our peak was around 2006, and we have fallen off since (debacle of 2009-2010) in both housing units produced and price per unit in general, even with the lowest home mortgage interest rates in history here. I also have a background and education in Finance/Accounting and Economics. I say hello to all and have much to learn while being here from all of you who help.Wink
