Hi Andrew,

Welcome to Wood Designer, and thanks for your first post on the forum. Here are 2 possible solutions to your problem…

1. You’ll need to start a new furniture design to activate the 3D view. Click File > New Cabinet > OK (for a standard box cabinet).

You should now be able to click on the green 3D icon in the toolbar.

I’d recommend this overview of Cabinet Mode in the Core Furniture Training to get to grips with the basic functions. Running through the rest of the Core Training will really help too.

And definitely the Quick Start videos here which will give you a good idea of what the software is capable of.

2. Alternatively, you might not have a recent version of DirectX installed on your computer. Please go to 3D (in the Toolbar) > Options > Diagnosis.

For me, a dialogue box opens up and right at the top it say, ‘At least DirectX 9 installed … yes’

If you haven’t got it, click here for advice and to install.

Hope those suggestions help. Feel free to ask any other questions you have though.

What kind of projects are you planning or working on at the moment?

All the best,

Stefan
