Hello Ben,

OptiCut will optimize whatever is in your cutting list, that is why you are seeing individual smaller components rather then them being initially grouped.

You could run some testing with your optimization parameters, which may group enough of these smaller components together to process with a edgebander in between cuts. Focus specifically on testing the “other” parameters.

The other option is to manually adjust your cutting list, deleting smaller components and custom making one larger component.

Regards, Isaac

hi i am wondering if there is a way we can adapt the opticut to work more like ourselves when cutting up a job.

so at the moment when i optimise my cut list for a jumbo board 2.8 x 2.1m the system will maximise the sheet for less waste as possible which is great for a cnc machine but for us we find its best to do full rips of say 600mm (most of the time for carcases with the exception for backs) and edgeband then we return back to the saw to cross cut our sheets. and rip down any that is narrower then the 600 width.

i know we can change the sheet sizes to 600mm but this still likes to put a different components into the sheet which creates confusion i have attached a job for you to see we would like to group our different parts so for example have the shelves tops and bottoms which are all the same width panel to be worked out in rips as apose to what they are on the file attached. hope this makes sense.
