Hi Tom,

Thank you for the clear explanation — it makes perfect sense.

At this time, this functionality isn’t available in OptiCut. I appreciate you bringing it to our attention; I’ll share your feedback with our team for internal discussion.

Best regards,

Isaac

Hi Isaac,

Ideally I would like Opticut to calculate the roughing cut and the finishing cut to give an accurate measurement on linear meterage and therefore cost. As it stands I think Opticut only calculates the linear cutting length on one pass i.e the finishing cut. However if we are to rough cut or pre cut Opticut doesn’t seem to allow for the additional cutting length required.

Does this make sense?

Kind regards

Tom

Hello Tom,

If I have understood you correctly, you often oversize all of your components and cut them on one day, and then trim them all to a finished size the next day?

I have been working off of this understanding and trying to find an efficient solution for you.

I believe that selecting all of your components and adding a “Pre-cut” value is the best practice.

Additionally, you could add an oversizing to all of your components using a “Grooves and oversizing” rule in PolyBoard, and then set net dimensions to your part labels for a finished size (if you are using labels).

Hello,

Is it possible for Opticut to apply a roughing cut to each part before the finishing cut? On bigger projects we often rough cut the boards in 1 day and then finish cut & edge the next.

We currently use the pre-cut setting for scribe allowance.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tom
