"Apply the Method to the new Components" problem|Forum|WOOD DESIGNER
Of course, it works with the way you showed, it is just that PolyBoard works in a way that I dont understand fully so I am concerned that it could happen with other things.
Overall the problem is solved. I was just concerned that it didnt work the way I expected, but probably its a lack of knowledge on my part.
Hi Michael,
I understand that, it’s just in my mind when I click “Apply the Method to the new Components” I expect edges that I already put onto my uprights and shelves not dissapear or be altered in anyway. Could you explain me this:
1. I put edges on top, bottom, side panels, shelves and uprights first (drawer is not placed yet)
2. I choose a method that I created for a drawer (edges submethod related to this method has only drawer front and internal drawer edges defined) and click “Apply the Method to the new Components”
3. I add a drawer and edges on shelves and uprighs dissapear, but edges on top, bottom and side panels stay. (like on the picture in my first post) Both boxful panels and division panels are linked to drawer front but only division panels loose their edges.
What is the logic? Am I missing something?
P.S. I am creating methods that will be used only with “Apply the Method to the new Components” function, thats why it is important for us.
Cheers 🙂

Hi Rafal,
What I explained you is that you have to do this for parts linked to the drawers. I am not talking about the drawers themself. So you still can do your method. If you look in my screen shot it is about a shelve, free division and upright linked to the drawer.
regards
Michel
Hi Michael,
Thanks for the reply. The problem is that I am creating a library of methods that follows a certain system – long story short: I dont want to put information about edges in a edges submethod that has to do only to do with a drawer, I expected that when I click “Apply the Method to the new Components” only the new drawer parts will receive the new edges and nothing else will be changed. I will probably need to update each edge submethod for the drawers like you had written. Thanks!
Hi all,
What I am trying to make is put edges on the front of uprights and and shelves that are behind the drawer front.
My workflow is:
1. Apply submethod that adds edges on boxful panels and division panels
2. Apply submethod for a drawer that adds edges on all internal parts of a drawer + drawer front and choose “Apply the Method to the new Components”
3. Add a drawer
The problem is a that edges of division panels dissapear even though in my mind they shouldn’t – again, I clicked “Apply the Method to the new Components” so logically it should not affect existing panels.
The way I create a drawer is by selecting the whole volume (few clicks, starting with the big volume at the bottom) so that the drawer front covers everything. I know I can just select the big bottom volume and go through the same procedure and then extent the drawer front and edges will be correct but it takes time to calculate how much it should extend.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way where I dont?
