Hi Manuel, if your cnc supplier needs the project nested on the panel as described, you would need to purchase the CabinetFile Optimised service. This would cover redesigning to meet his specifications too. All the best, Stefan

Hi Stefan,

I've attached the new project file with the minor changes. Could you please provide the cutting lists, dxf, etc.

Also, please advise on which CabinetFile service I should purchase for requirements as per post below.

Thank you,

Manuel

Hi Stefan,

Please hold off on providing the files, I need to make some minor changes to the project.

I'll post the new project file tonight some time.

Thank you,

Manuel

Hi guys,

This is version 2 of my Frog Game. I've designed it to use less plywood & to look more like the traditional south american "Sapo" game:

Frog_Game_V2.JPGImage Enlarger

Could you please provide cutting lists, dxf files, etc. for the new attached project.

Also if I wanted to get the following, which CabinetFile service service would I need to purchase?

  • Provide dxf file in 2d format for 18mm panels laid out (nested) on sheet size of 2400 x 1200 (18mm thick plywood). I would only need the 18mm plywood divisions/panels laid out for the CNC machine:

Frog_Game_V2_ply.JPGImage Enlarger

  • Taking into account lay out for milling bit diameter of 8mm, but minimum is 9mm for the machine to register the shape. Spacing between each shape is minimum 22mm.
  • Revise project for easy manufacturing

Cheers,

Manuel

Hi Manuel, the CabinetFile Pro service comes with part by part 2D DXF files. You can buy this here: https://wooddesigner.org/membe.....discounts/

The rebates and grooves can be extended to compensate for the mill radius (all rebates will have to be at least 6mm sticking from the piece). We can work through this as part of the Pro service.

It also sounds as if the CNC guy wants the files nested or maybe cutting optimised onto a sheet. For this we need to know:

1. the sheet sizes (got) and thickness (18mm?)
2. whether the parts are nested or cut (although it sounds more as if he's asking for nesting but better to confirm)
3. milling bit diameter

If he won't do the optimisation himself and needs you to do it, we've also got available the CabinetFile Pro Optimized service which is an extra £50.

All the best, Stefan

Thank you Stefan 🙂

I've sent the files over to a company with a CNC machine to get a quote for cutting the plywood and this is what they say:

"Holes and rebates are no problem as long as they're bigger than 8mm in diameter. I'll need you to resend the dxf file in 2d format and all pieces laid out on sheet size of 2400 x 1200. I can't give a quote till I have all pieces laid out. All rebates will have to be at least 6mm sticking from the piece, otherwise because the bit is round, you will have a little round bit leftover on the corners."

How can I convert the dxf file to 2d format with all the pieces laid out?

What is he talking about when he says "All rebates will have to be at least 6mm sticking from the piece"?

Please advise,

Manuel

Hi guys,

I've gotten some quotes on getting the plywood cut to size, but it's too expensive having all different thickness panels. So I've changed the design to only have 18mm thick plywood.

Could you please provide cutting lists, dxf files, etc. for the new attached project (I'm using polyboard version 6.01k)

Thank you,

Manuel

Hi Stefan,

Thank you for the cutting lists. I'll definitely post a pic of the finished game cabinet.

Would it be possible if you could provide the first page of the pdf file with an isometric view instead of the top view?

Please advise,

Manuel

Hi Ness,

I've upgraded to the Full membership, could you please provide the cutting lists for my project when you get the chance.

I'm very excited & can't wait to have the Frog Game cabinet built 🙂

Cheers,

Manuel

Hi Manuel,

I think your project is awesome too!

Sorry though you can't put a bull nose on a Polyboard panel. They are always drawn square.

You just have to run a router over them after they are cut.

cheers,

Ness

Hey guys,

Polyboard is just awesome 🙂

I've completed the Frog Game Project & will be requesting the cutting list soon:

Frog_Game_Polyboard.JPGImage Enlarger

Is it possible to have a bullnose edge on the top panel (the one with the holes)?

Cheers,

Manuel

Hi Stefan,

Thank you for the quick reply. Yes that was it, upgraded to the latest version of polyboard & I can open the file now 🙂

I'll upgrade to the Full membership as I will eventually need the cutting list for my project.

Trying to figure out how Ness created the grooves in the panels...

Cheers,

Manuel

Hi Manuel, I think you've got an older version of Polyboard, try installing the current version here:

https://wooddesigner.org/membe.....polyboard/

Please upgrade to Full membership so we can help you further with the details. All the best, Stefan

Thank you for the help Ness,

Unfortunately I could not open the pb-cab file you attached, getting an "Unexpected file format" error:

error.JPGImage Enlarger

Found Mortise & Tenon in Structure->Edit->Assembly, but don't know how to apply it. Would be great if you could add the grooves to my cabinet (attached pb-cab file) if you have the time or advise on how to do this.

Appreciate your help,

Manuel

Hi Manuel,

You can't make the slots with the current version of Polyboard although we are actually working on setting this up for a future version that should be ready in a few weeks time.

For the moment I would suggest using a groove or tongue and groove  (called mortise and tenon in Polyboard )  to assemble the sloping parts into the vertical divisions:

All the best,

Ness
