drawer front materials, exporting parts of a project, |Forum|WOOD DESIGNER

January 20, 2017

Hi,
Q1
It is possible to create a 520 (internal) drawer, but you also need to modify the parameters to separate standard drawers from “inner” drawers.
-Materials sub-methods (add material for this type of drawers)
-Fixing link sub-method (add link for this new drawer type)
-Drawer sub-methods (add and adjust this new drawer dimensions)
Sample with the sub-methods of materials, it will therefore imperatively added in the sub-methods drawer, and fixing link if different
Q2
It is not possible to extract parts from the project, but you can
>open the cabinet in project mode, and export only that cabinet, which is easier to find.
>To retrieve a single part or a set of parts from your previous nesting, provided you have saved it after optimisation, by selecting the zero part and then setting the quantities to 0
>Then selecting interested parts, edit quantities then made new optimisation
>When exporting, all the parts are also exported as DXF, so it’s possible to add a part manually in another optimisation by just adding the DXF.
Hope that’s helpful, Alex

Hi there
Q1:
In my designs I sometimes have drawers behind another drawers frontage. Those can sometimes be in different materials. I.e. when the kitchen has attached shaker frontages, and inner drawers that are just a fingerjoined wooden box. I need to specify the different front materials because the thickness is varying and therefore the runner fitting holes. I know how to do it manually obviously, but I would like to use the style wand – but the drawers, whether they are and inner or an outer drawer, falls under the same panel material. Would the solution then be to create a seperate drawer type through the preferences called, for instance, drawer 520 (inner), so that I can seperate the two materials while putting the cabinet together?
Q2:
I sometimes get a damaged board from production or realise at the customer that a board should have been dimensioned differently or some other issue, which results in me needing to make a “complaint” order. I might only need a single board/side/front from a whole project, but I can’t find an easy way to export that. Ideally I would like to isolate a given part, and then export it or load it in to a separate project with several complaints.
Again, I might be able to change the material for that piece to something temporary, and style wand everything else to something non exportable. But this seems very “hacked” and prone to error, or maybe i’m just exaggerating.
I get that I have to go through the whole process of exporting pdf’s and go through optinest and labels and all that, but I would love if I didn’t have to export first, then find the specific files i need and delete the rest, and ammend the pdf’s from poly, that still shows all the parts I don’t need.
Hope you have a solution.
Best regards
Oscar
