Hi,

We have a feature request regarding how Polyboard handles fitting links for non-existent panels. This is something that affects our daily workflow and efficiency significantly.

Currently, if we set a Top or Bottom panel to “Present: No” in the properties panel, the software still applies the default fitting machining (like Clamex or dowels) to the adjacent Side panels.Drilling-for-bottom.pngImage Enlarger

A temporary workaround for other users: We are aware of the “Ignore Links if one of the Panels is Nil” checkbox in the Fitting Links Sub-Method settings. For anyone else struggling with this, our current workaround is to leave the panel set to “Present: Yes”, but change its material to “Nil” (or a virtual material). This successfully triggers the ignore rule and removes the unwanted drillings.

Our request to the developers: While the workaround functions, we strongly believe this behavior should be natively automated. Logically, if a user explicitly toggles a panel to “Present: No”, the software should automatically recognize that the part physically doesn’t exist and automatically suppress any associated fitting links on adjacent panels.

We shouldn’t have to manually delete links one by one or manipulate materials just to remove hardware for a hidden panel. Automating this native behavior would save users a lot of manual cleanup and prevent expensive CNC machining errors.

Does it make sense to implement this automation in a future update? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
