NC file output for our Horizontal CNC borer|Forum|WOOD DESIGNER
Hi Issac,
Thank you for replies to first two questions, however I need reply on the below question
3- There is no part on face1 or face2 of the dxf Horizontal file, how to determine which face is which, this is sometimes important for the horizontal side machining.
to further explain, We need that all dxf exports are either having their face 1 or face 2 on the top of the dxf output. How do ensure that and how to know for sure that a certain face is facing upwards?

Hi Nadeem,
Sorry for the late reply. I am working on a response and should have it to you soon.

Isaac
Hello Issac,
Thank you for a detailed answer, I understand the current limitation of Polyboard, In your answer however, There are some further questions / requirements.
1- We would like the name of the DXf files to be in the format of <Project Name><Cabinet Name><Part Name>, how to acheive that?,this is required for horizontal machining operator, to identify/locate the part by its sticker applied in the first operation. Our sticker is attached for your reference.
2- We get this message while setting up Multi Post processor, Please explain what it exactly implies?
3- There is no part on face1 or face2 of the dxf Horizontal file, how to determine which face is which, this is sometimes important for the horizontal side machining.

Dear Issac,
Thank you for your feed back, this is very encouraging!
There is one additional information that I did not pass in my previous question. We currently use Optinest to output to vcarve, because OptiNest has the ability to produce the Stickers and PDF/DXF output which makes the sticker application on each individual work peice much easier. We are also already using face 1 / face 2 sensitive output.
The sticker output from OptiNest is <Project Name><Cabinet Name><Part Name> which is a requirement.
Thus far is no problem we are happy with it. We are able to import this into v-carve and process accordingly.
Now we would like horizontal Output from either PolyBoard or OptiNest, Each part is a seperate file, which consist same naming convention as the sticker naming convention of OptiNest, with additional Left/Right/Top or Bottom indicater. Thus each Part will now have 4 additional possible dxf outputs for each EDGE of the part. I have enclosed a PDF which shows one such possible part.
Please guide us how can we configure this output?
Best Regards,
Nadeem

Hi Nadeem,
Horizontal drilling is not possible with VCarve Pro.
You can output the horizontal drillings on PolyBoard for processing in another CAM software.
In PolyBoard, go to File>Multiple post processor options.
Here you can generate separate files for your horizontal tooling and exclude them from export into VCarve.
See more information in the following articles:

Let me know if you require further information.

Isaac
Hello,
We are using Polyboard dxf post processor to output file for vcarve, we have recently purchased a CNC horizontal drilling / grooving machine. We would ideally like to export the 4 edges of each part, along with the part name for gcode generation,(somthing similar to the two faces machining that we are using). Is that possible? if yes please explain how.
Best regards,
Nadeem.
