OfflineHi Isaac,
Thanks for this. We’ve already purchased the tool on the assumption that it would be fairly straightforward to use, so I’ve shared your method with the team. We’ll give it a try once the drill bit arrives and see how we get on.
Would you also be able to help us create the basic shape and rule for the Lamello positions? This would mean that, once the shelf is exported to VCarve, the team wouldn’t have to manually draw and accurately space each Lamello slot.
I’ve attached a very crude drawing showing the shape and layout of the rule I’d like to apply to the shelf. I imagine it would work similarly to the Axilo feet block rule you created under Single Panel Fittings?
My idea is to apply the rule only to the shorter bottom shelf. Once exported, Aubrey can copy the DXF lines precisely onto the face of the shelf above in VCarve.
I’d prefer not to apply the rule to both shelves because they have different depths. Presumably, the rule would stretch to suit each shelf depth, meaning the Lamello positions would no longer align correctly.
Hopefully that explanation and the drawing make sense.

OfflineHello Tom,
Thank you for your question.
As far as I am aware, VCarve Pro does not have a specific function for carrying out this type of fitting. Other machining software can often use macro files that are created specifically to run the machine for this type of operation, and if such a macro were available, we could potentially look at applying it within Polyboard.
Unfortunately, VCarve Pro does not appear to have a specific macro or built-in function for this, as far as I am aware.
I have attached a video below that may give you an option to test. I would strongly recommend carrying out a test on your machine before purchasing the specific tooling, just to confirm whether this type of operation is possible with your particular machine and setup.
Another option would be to contact your machine reseller or manufacturer to see whether they have a specific solution or machining pathway for creating this fitting. If they are able to provide a suitable macro file that will run correctly on your machine, please feel free to send it over to me and we can look into whether it can be incorporated into your Polyboard workflow.
I apologise that I cannot provide a more definitive solution for this particular fitting at this stage, but hopefully the above gives you a couple of options to explore.
Kind regards, Isaac

OfflineHi Isaac,
I’ve created a short Loom video showing what I’m trying to achieve:
I’d like to sandwich two shelves together and use the CNC to machine the Lamello fixings into the faces where the shelves join. Ideally, I’d have two connectors on the left-hand side, two on the right-hand side, and one centrally positioned along the front edge.
I’m not sure how best to set this up, so any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Tom
