Hi Roger,
If you can post a drawing or photo of the sort of project you are trying to set up, I can shoot you a video or we can meet for a Team Viewer session to show you how to draw it in Polyboard.
cheers,
Ness

Hi Roger,
To have only the frames you just set the panels to ‘nil panel’ material.
This can be done either from the Assembly dialogue box :
or from the Properties list:
You can also use nil panels to only keep certain elements of the framing.
In this example I’ve framed the sides and just used kept the cross bars as the top bottom and back.
The top is underpassing and the bottom overpassing.
It’s also possible to overlay or underlay slats like flooring, cladding etc..
Hope this is helpful,
All the best,
Ness

Here is a question from Roger:
It was apparent that your software is “Panel” based but as I dug in I discovered I could use “Bars”. From the outset on my desk project what I wanted to do was to design a skeleton framework based around Bars with no Panels. How do you do it? I can see this approach working for building an additional workshop.
Good question Roger.
Polyboard is mainly a panels based cabinet design software but has some great functionality that make it capable of doing much much more.
One of these is the ability to apply a frame and panel structure to flat sheet material.
This is a very powerful feature that enables one to use Polyboard for building any framed structure from bars materials. To get an overview of how this works have a look at the Quick Design Advanced video “Using Quick Design Panels Structures Libraries”
This video is on here: https://wooddesigner.org/membe…..-advanced/
Here’s a direct link to the video on bars structures:
The panel Assembly functions are very powerful and feature rich so also require some training to apply efficiently to different situations.
But the possibilities are immense and it becomes possible to build doors, windows, building structures, framed furniture and a whole load of other projects. And as always Polyboard will create the cutting lists, detailed plans and CNC files of all the parts as you design.
If you can post a drawing of a design you want to build I can shoot you a video to show how to use them for your specific needs. A photo of what you had in mind would also be great.
All the best,
Ness
