vcarve z tooling depths|Forum|WOOD DESIGNER

Hi Dean,
When I set up Vcarve to work with Polyboard, I set a layer name that contains the variables <d> and <p> that inserts the machining depth into the name.
This gives a layer name in Polyboard drill<d> depth<p> and produces a DXF layer like “drill 5 depth 10”.
This enables us to make a Vc template that picks up the layer name and drills to the correct diameter and depth.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Ness,
I have used alphacam in the past with polyboard and can set auto z toolpath templates which will machine to the extruded depth
Am I right thinking this is not possible with vcarve then ??
How would I set up different types of holes the same diameter but different depths and be able to apply a toolpath template ??
Hope this makes sense
Many thanks

Hi Dean,
To use Vcarve with the Polyboard DXF files you should set the layer names to indicate the the depths of the machine operations.
As an example this has already been set up in our example post processors DXF-Vcarve-en and Optinest-Vcarve-en.
You can use any coding that works for you and then set up a Vcarve template to run the tool paths from the layer names.
Polyboard can extrude the DXF lines to given depths or heights according to the option selected but Vcarve doesn’t seem to pick up these.
Hope this is helpful,
Best
