Hello Michel.

That does work, but my only issue with that function is that i can only make a penetration ( i can not make a recces) information for the stringer, and not export the tuberail post for the cnc. Now i have to manually make the post after the stringer is made by, aswell as make the post the size of the tenon in the program for the stringer so that it exports the mortise.

Is there no way to to add a newel post

you could laminate  your stringer into  3 pieces , the middle section should be 3″ deeper than the outsides , install 1/2″ glass and then wet glaze it in , once dry you won’t need a Post ,  middle post or a handrail if that is the look your looking for  , i like to add a handrail for a better grip

i should have said that level run rails could be wet glazed or by using an aluminum base shoe , for inclined stairs i use PL premium ,it won’t run the way a wet glaze would

Hello Duayne and Michel.

:No, you can not add a newel in between, and this tube rail system is still mainly for visuals. What you can do is the DXF plan export. This will export these parts and you can rework them and program in the CNC as you should be able to import DXF in maestro.

Alright, good that it can be exported as a dxf and that its possible (in some sense) to make it with the cnc. then i will rather make the staircaise itself with a baulster hole for placement, then make the post itself where i will make a overgrown dowel hole for the post so i can get the placment.
But i have to ask, is it possible for the developers to add such a function for it ?  since its a very handy function to have in the programm. aswell as for example if the handrail in the first flight would insted go past the post insted of ending at the postExample.pngImage Enlarger

we’ve had some costumers who want this insted,so that people wouldnt place their jackets onto the post, as well as its more comfortable to grab as u enter the staircase. (this was only a example***)

well it is a good idea for sure, and makeing a groove (be it a groove made by a router or by laminating) for a fit for the glass is something that we would normally do if the stringers itself is shorter. but since this is a stright staircase we want to have as much sability as possible.
we had a incedent with a costumer 2 years ago (where we had warned her about the satbility of the handrail prior to making the staircase*), where we had to take her to court, since she said that the handrail was to unstable. so we dont want to end up in the same situation and wnat to add a post between to ensure that everyting is more solid.

Hi Arngrimur,

Duayne’s solution is excellent. You could do it like this. I mentioned that you could not add a post between the stringboard and the handrail only. You can add an intermediate post, but this will cut the stringboard and handrail into 2 sections which you want to avoid as a full stringer length adds more stability. Also, it would be tedious to maintain the linearity of the 2 stringboards.

Regards,

Michel

Hi ,

You can use the tube rail function instead of bannisters

Hello.

I have a costumer that wants a straight stringer where we add glass. in this specific case we’re gona add a a rabbet for the glass to sit in the stringer, post and the handrail then add add a glaslist in the end, but we need to add a post in the middle of he stringer to add stability. But we want to add the post between the handrail and the stringer. Is this a possibility ?Newelpost-inbetween.pngImage Enlarger
