Hi Duayne,
No there is no current way in SD to get this done. This needs a manual intervention in a cad program if you need it

Hi John ,
I advise you the new version as this one is already much more developped then the version 6. Only some features are not in the new version yet but the creation of stairs is much more developped already.
I added a small video showing the start of a stair with regular stringboards. I removed 1 stringboard and replaced it with a cutstring

Hi John,
You need to use the cutstringers to become an open stringer. To have the steps hang over the cutstringer you need to use the offset field in the property screen on the right side when you select the cutstring. SD is only putting the riser against the cutstring. There is no 45 degree cutout possible on this one yet but this is something you can edit in a cad program. SD is still evolving and I personally can not tell if this feature is on the list but Ness would be able to answer this one

how do you make an open stringer in this program? So basically i want a stringer board that is notched out so that the risers get 45 degree cut into the stringer board which also has a 45 degree cut. The treads/steps would then hang past the stringer by about 1.25″ with a return piece to cover the end grain.
