Hi Ness,

thank’s for your reply, is it possible to do as many steps as possible “squared”.

In the design now every step is “angeled” and I think it would be much easier to build if most of the steps

are squared?

Kindest regards

Hi again,

I fogot one thing. The distance between the bottom floor and the loft floor is 269,1 cm and when I check the

design it seems like the stringboards goes above 269,1cm?

Hi Ness,

long time no seen. I’ve been busy doing other things. I’ve now found a place where I can buy the material for the stairs and I’ve changed the dimensions of the stair to the available dimensions of the material.

I would really appreciate if you could check my file if the stair will work. I think you made some changes with my former version of design in order to get it easier to build?

I’m a newbie into building stairs so I think everything that can make things easier would be appreciated.

Kindest regards

Hi Claes,

Reducing the thickness of the stringers will change the geometry of the stair and although possible, I would not recommend it.

If it’s impossible to maintain the 50mm thickness the best solution would be to change the thickness in StairDesigner and regenerate the plans.

The next best solution would be to maintain the position of the inner machined face of strings.

This would enable you to not change the step shapes and routed housings but will require offsetting the inner strings on the post. This would make the stair 10mm less wide on the outer wall side.

How far have you got in the building?

All the best,

Ness

Hi Ness,

I’m starting to get ready for manfacturing and I wonder if it’s enough with 40mm stringers instead of 50mm as in the drawings? They will be made of glued red wood.

I’m planning to use 22mm glued wood sheets covered by 8mm oak.

Kindest regards

Hi Claes,

Here are your working documents.

You can print full size templates by loading the dxf files into a CAD program and printing from the program.

If you don’t have a CAD program you can download our free Draftsight program using the link on the members free ressources page here:

https://wooddesigner.org/membe…..raftsight/

With Draftsight, you can also add dimensions to the dxf drawings if necessary.

We can send you PDF files of the parts but this takes some time on our part and is only part of our paid StairFile Pro service.

PDF can be useful if you are using a subcontractor for printing.

You can print pdf yourself by sending the Draftsight print to a PDF printer like PDF Creator.

Good luck with the building of your stair.

Keep us updated on the progress.

All the best,

Ness

Hi Claes,

I’ve made the outer string  straight so that it will be easier to make. However, this makes StairDesigner project it up and not round off the upper corner. You can correct this simply by cutting the upper corner to the correct height and shape when you make the stair.

If the project is ok with you can I send you the working documents?

All the best,

Ness

Hi Ness,

I don’t know if you need anything more from me? I saw your updated deisgn and I think it looks good. My only concerns is if the stings shouldn’t end on the same level at the top. On the pics they seem to end on different levels?

Kindest regards

Claes
