Hi Duayne, we think this is something to do with the Windows/PC set up. Everything looks good with the StairDesigner diagnosis you sent us. We cannot replicate your issue at all, and haven’t had any other reports of this. If we discover anything, we’ll let you know, just sorry we cannot give you an answer.

One thing that might help in the meantime is to have the 2D and 3D showing side by side as below, just right click the 3D tab highlighted and select ‘New vertical tab group’.

Hi Duayne, sounds frustrating. So, this is happening on a normal Windows PC, just confirming? Is there any chance you could do a quick screencast in Jing or another free app and link to it here, so we can take a look. I don’t know if it’s just something to do with Windows itself or how StairDesigner is working.

Sometimes you can get issues with the 3D if the graphics card and driver isn’t up to date, or you don’t have DirectX installed. To check on DirectX/Direct3D go into 3D > Options > Diagnosis. You can also copy that report into a text file. Can you post that here too.

By the way, we haven’t got a record of your purchase of StairDesigner. Are you still using the free version of have you bought it?

I have been using Stairdesigner on a Mac using Parallels , it worked fine at times and other times it was a total waste of time ,

I decided to pull the plug and buy a dedicated windows machine running windows 10 just to run SD , so now Stairdesigner 6 is working fine for me but SD7 is giving me more grief than I ever had with it on my Mac, when I switch from  2 to 3d or 3-2D It actually leaves it’s page and switches me to the windows start up window , The program doesn’t shut down it just switches windows ,it’s frigging frustrating !  hopefully somebody here has a remedy for this and can help me out a little , I am new to the windows platform , been using mac’s since the early days when the Black and white Mac Classic’s were popular .
