Hi Duayne,

I understand this and here also the stair sits on the floor. Currently there is no parameter like this in SD and I do not know if it will come. Ness can maybe give more information on this. What I meant to say was to consider the floor thickness in your measurements and deduct it from the total. The stair will only be in place after flooring of course. I worked with several other software before and never encountered that specific parameter except from the joist thickness on arrival side.

Regards

Stringers generally sit on the unfinished floor with flooring laid around it.  At least here where I live. Most Stair calculators all allow for this , it makes sense that an expensive piece of software does the same!

Hi Duayne,

Currently there is no headroom control in SD7 and will be added in future releases.

About floor thickness a stair needs to be measured from finished floor to finished floor. If there is no floor available, you have to consider the thickness in your measurements.

I am not sure if such a possibility would be added in SD7 however the joist thickness on the arrival side can be interesting as you can see how well the stair fit against it.

Regards

Michel

StairDesigner 7 seems to be missing the Headroom control that was in stairDesigner 6 , is that something that will be incorporated in the future , also i believe that there should be some way to allow for the floor thickness  .  as it is now the bottom rise would be short 3/4″   if you are using hardwood flooring .
