3D DXF and 3DS output formats
In addition to StairDesigner’s manufacturing output, it’s possible to generate 3D designs for import to photorealistic rendering packages, or to CAD software if you wish to present your stair within a room environment for example.
Here’s a 3D DXF file from StairDesigner opened in Nanocad.
To output in either of these formats, go to File menu > Export:
To confirm, the 3D output options are:
- 3D DXF
- 3DS
Photorealistic rendering applications
There are some excellent photo rendering solutions, 3DS is a standard import format they will normally accept.
Here is an image of a StairDesigner project imported into a free package called Blender, with the stair set up in a hallway.
Our customers also use other packages like KeyShot and pCon.Planner.
Integration within complex environments
SketchUp is a CAD package that we’ve used here to place a StairDesigner project within a room layout with an under stair cabinet and a panelling section. We’ve designed these in PolyBoard and imported them in the same way.
This is a simple setup, SketchUp goes much further so we could expand the room layout further and add more 3D details.
