Triangulation tool
The Triangulation tool allows you to calculate the angle of the turn of your stair based on three dimensions you can take on-site that together form a triangle.
To access this tool, go to Tools > Triangulation:
First, we need to take the three measurements shown below:
These are:
- Length 1 from a specific point (a) along the first wall to the turn
- Length 2 from a specific point (b) along the second wall to the turn
- Diagonal length 3 from point a to b (the hypotenuse)
If these are added to the tool, the angle of the turn is calculated.
Here we show the triangulation tool with 3 classic dimensions (ratio 6:8:10) that output an angle of 90°:
- Length 1 = 600mm
- Length 2 = 800mm
- Length 3 = 1000mm
- Angle of the turn (between lengths 1 and 2) = 90°
Let’s take a different set of measurements, resulting in an angle of 84.91°:
This angle can now be used to calculate the stair very easily in StairDesigner as shown with the following stair in the multi-flight window:
Note that there is a button inside this window to quickly access the Triangulation tool.
As usual, it’s also easy to modify the angle of the turn in a pre-designed stair in the Properties menu.
