Hi Haider,

Thanks for posting your project .

Your project looks fine to be made using biscuits.

On the other hand I would suggest that you make everything in 3/4″.

I find that 1/2″ shelves can bend in time.

I haven’t had time to look into the details but generally  your project looks nice and clean.

If you post a final version I’ll try to process you the cutting lists before the week end.

All the best,

Ness

Haider, sorry about the bad timing for your project. I’ll make sure Ness sees your messages, but unfortunately I cannot promise we can get a reply to you and have the cutting list ready for you in time. Please bear with us on this.

Haider’s having some problems posting to the forum, not sure why yet. Here is the full text he wanted to write:

Thank you so much Stefan for your response. what a bad luck to not have Ness look at my project before I start because I am planning to do the project this weekend and already took Monday off to have long weekend. I think it’s pretty straightforward project, but All what I need to know three things before I request the Final Cutting List.

– The thickness of the lumber that I am using in the design (I used 1/2″ and 3/4″ Plywood) is it the right thickness for this project?
– Since I will paint the cabinet all white what Kind of Plywood recommended.
– What Kind of join techniques I should use for this project. There are not many options in the manufacture list in PolyBaord.

And when I should send the final project in order to have the Cutting List before the weekend?

Thanks again for both of you Stefan and Ness to give this kind of solution with very kind support.

Haider,

With respect to the jointing options (and you can take it with a grain of salt since I am also a novice), I have been using the biscuit joint technique and it works very well!

Hi Haider!

I gave it a shot and made some tweaks to your project…  Have a look a see if any of my ideas help you out.

The following details those tweaks:

     –  You will notice that I made your unit to have more matching contours with that of your wall/foot boards.

     –  Given the above, I added more shoe racks along the bottom.

     –  Since you are painting the unit white, I changed all of the building material to White Melamine.

     –  and I added doors for the side cabinets.

Let me know what you think!

Hi Haider,

Thanks very much for sharing this with everyone, it looks like a great project you’re working on. Just to let you know that Ness is away from today at the Lyon Eurobois exhibition until the end of the week. I’m sure he’ll want to have a look at your design, just bear with him in case it takes him longer than normal to reply.

And welcome to the community!

All the best,

Stefan

My Name is Haider. I am a Broadcast Designer specialized in 3D Design/Animation and live in Georgia, US.  I am passionate about design and modeling in digital world as well as the real world.

I am planing of new project which is my first project of this kind. It’s a cabinet in my Laundry Room. So while I was doing research about the project I found PolyBoard application which is a great tool to design and finalize the cutting list. I’ve been learning it for couple of days now and I came up with initial design of my project that I would like to share in this form. Please look at the project and let me know what you thing your inputs are very appreciated.

I am still tuning the design specially the sides (Left and Right) cabinets. I am trying to finding out the right proportions to add the door and drawers or maybe just shelves to each side.

Thanks,

Haider
