Hi,
You are right!
Personally I recommend 100% to use the inside, because all the instructions indicate this overlap value, and thus let Polyboard define the correct position of the hinge.
(like D11 for blum, B 12.5 Het, and K 15 for Salice for example),
and therefore after modifying this value of the overlap with the change in thickness of the base (given by X cross or I a line and thickness value)
like
Hettich / hing.Sensys-X00 // app / ba45 / ol / 15.5-18.5
using face 2 with a base thickness 0mm (X00)
and
Hettich / hing.Sensys-X03 // bin / ba45 / sl / 1-4
using a cross base 3mm thickness (X03)
but sometimes you need to keep this position locked and use “Overpassing panel edge” different from outer F1 (tb=XX)
and if you want the perfect configuration, you can set the holes 37mm on the N.P. side to 38.5mm
hope that’s helpful,
Cheers, Alex

What do you recommend which is the best method when positioning overlay hinge fittings as our library has Blum hinges reference axis to inside face (Face 2) while Hettich is referenced axis to outer face (Face 1).
The issue we see with working from outer face 1 is if we change the door clearance (reveal) or carcase thickness from 18mm (our standard) to 16mm it has an affect on on cup position or mount thickness. Would working from inside face 2 be more consistent as door clearance shouldn’t come into the equation or does it ?
Can be all a bit confusing when working with different details. FYI we manufacture to multiple hinge systems also have a preference for 2mm or 1.5mm mounts as go too giving option to less or greater thickness mount if required due to overlay issues.

Dave
