Can you please advise on how to draw a furniture where this doesn’t happen?

We want to change some uprights and shelf’s. In the picture it shows what happens when we deleted the third shelf from the bottom – all others parts is adjusted. So the only way we know is to start from the bottom with shelf’s and the top, and then do the middle part with a nil shelf and the upright. A very time consuming way. Is there a way to do this where all other parts is not being adjusted? We often see in the process of designing a furniture that we would like to change some of the shelve’s or other parts in a zone, but if this part is created before some of the parts that we want to keep it just empties the whole zone. Is there a way around this?
