Hi Tom,

Sorry to say that this is just not possible in the actual version.

Polyboard cutting list will always show the over sizing for cutting.

The final actual sizes are marked in the parts drawings.

So I’d suggest you set the over size per part and cut from the cutting list and then use the drawings for the final trim.

Sorry I’m a bit tied up this morning so don’t have a lot of time to call you. If necessary I can give you a call tomorrow.

cheers,

Ness

Thanks Ness,

So I have changed Opticut to show the Net dimensions. This is perfect as we will use Opticut to cut the panels to their required dimensions including oversizes and minus the edgeband thickness.

What would then be ideal is if the cutting list in Polyboard gave us the final dimensions (no oversizing). I know that the drawings from polyboard give both the oversize and final size in each part but I would really like to see this in the cutting list.

The reason for this is that if we are making drawers for example that require edgebanding, we would cut these overlength to allow for trimming of the edgeband. I would then like the polyboard cutting list to display the final dimension so we can cut the drawers to size.

I hope this makes sense.

Regards

Tom

Hi Tom,

I’m not sure that I understand exactly what you are asking here as Oversizing and Edging are in fact 2 different things.

Polyboard cutting lists always include the over sizing, this is logical as these are the dimensions you need to cut the panel on a saw.

The lists can be with “Overall” with edge or  ” Net” without edging according to the type of edge bander being used as some edge banders will plane off the thickness of the edging before adding it back again. So in this case you’ll need to export with Overall dimensions.

In Opticut in Tools>Preferences>Panels and in the Pieces Dimensions > Edges Identification section you have 2 options for displaying the dimensions on the parts.

The Net () option displays the sizes with the final cutting size including over sizing and edge band. A bracket () is displayed to show the side that needs edging.

The Overall  [] option will display the real finished size without over sizing but with edge banding while adding a [] bracket to the side that needs edging.

It’s not possible to display both net and  overall dimensions at the same time in Opticut.

Hope this is helpful,

Best regards,

Ness

Hello,

I am printing out the manufacturing documents and cutting lists from Opticut for manufacture. I am finding that the way they present the information is not really right for the application.

What I mean by this is when designing the cabinets in polyboard I may have some parts that require being cut oversize. I would like this to be detailed in the cutting list from Opticut, with the finished size being shown/ detailed in polyboard. As it stands the oversize dimensions are shown in polyboard, finished dimensions in Opticut. I would like to use the cutting list and maps from Opticut to cut the dimensions displayed. This would therefore need to include oversize dimensions and the net dimensions with regards to edgebanding. Then when these parts are cut I would consult the polyboard cutting list and drawings for final dimensions.

I am aware of the option for net/ overall dimensions but is it possible to set polyboard for overall and opticut for net?

Is is also possible to set polyboard for final/ finish dimensions and opticut for oversize? I notice in Opticut that when parts have an oversize dimension they appear in the cutting map oversize but final size in the cutting list.

Regards

Tom
