Hello Michael,
To answer your questions:
It’s not actually possible to rout bars and this is not a feature that’s planned for a foreseeable future.
The only way to do this actually is to edit in CADD
The next paid version is v7 that will be available end of 2018. All intermediate versions are free. Upgrades to new major version eg. v6 to v7 usually cost around 30% of a full licence.
You can upgrade to the new minor versions 6.04 to 6.05 etc. for free but upgrading to a new level ie. Pro to Pro PP is free for 30 days ie: you only pay the difference. After this period we take back old licences 70% of the price you paid.
DXF imports are already possible using the 3D Accessories import. This allows to import any 3D object made of 3D faces into Polyboard. These elements can be displayed by inserting them as single panel or fitting links hardware.
For photo realistic rendering you can export into any other software that can read DXF 3d. SketchUp will need an add on to do this.
Theres is actually no way to combine frames of adjoining cabinets. We are actually working on a more comprehensive face frame module, but this will only be available in v7 and it’s not sure we will be adding this feature.
I’ve tried to answer all you questions as honestly as possible so that you can get a feel for the limits of Polyboard and wont have any surprises if you decide to use it.
Don’t hesitate to ask more questions, we will more than happy to give you as much information as you need to make an informed decision.
All the best,
Ness
Several questions prior to making a decision on purchasing full license:
Is there a way or plans to incorporate routing details on rails and styles(bars)?
Is there a road map for updates and releases so I don’t buy something one week and a new version comes out the next? Is there a grace period for no cost upgrades?
Is there any plans to have DXF imports so items like appliances can be imported for more realistic representations for customers?
Is the best practice to export entire model to something like Sketchup for photo realistic renderings?
Is there a way to combine bars from two adjoining cabinets? My customers like the look of combined face frames instead of separate for each cabinet. Gives a more custom look.
