Thanks again Michel,

Is the strength compromised at all if it is a closed stringer?

Hi Kevin

Here a picture of some steps I made . You can clearly see these are made out of 2 pieces of wood. This is better then only 1 piece as this is more stable.

Hi Kevin,

You can make a wooden panel by glueing several parts together and cut the steps out of it. For winder steps, panels are glued so that you can cut 2 steps out of it.

Below is a panel of 600/1300 containing 2 steps.

Before glueing the panel make sure the wooden parts are processed through a wood planer and squared up correctly as this defines the quality of your panel. Make also sure that the grain is alternating to make the panel more stable and avoid warp.

Regular wood glue will do the job

Me again.

Being new to manufacturing stairs it seems that I have more questions regarding the build rather than the software so please forgive me.

Similar to my post regarding Stringers and widths of material, I have a client that wants 32mm pine treads which creates a problem with the winder treads as I cannot get that material wide enough to make complete winders. Can you join winders to make the width, and if so what is the method for doing this bearing the load they will have to regularly take.

Any advice would be really helpful as I cannot find any information regarding this on the net.

Many Thanksembarassed
