Hello Wolfie,

Good job on this first project.

I’ve tweaked a bit your project here are the points that I’ve modified:

– as your using 16mm boards 8mm dowels are a bit big so I’ve changed them to 6mm.

– your back can’t be fixed so I’ve made it rebate into the sides, top and bottom. this way you can assemble the carcase and pin it. This will keep the whole cabinet square. Note that the rebate in the top and bottom must be stopped before the end of the board so as not to show up on the out side of the casing, you can be do this using a router or circular saw.

– I’ve added some parts to the plinth so that you can assemble it as a frame. You can either just put the cabinet on it or screw through from the under side. The inner parts are dowelled but outer corners are mitred to give a better aspect. To assemble the mitres I’d suggest just gluing and pinning a block behind, much easier than trying to dowel.

Hope this is OK with you.

Here are your plans.

All the best,

Ness

Hi Wolfie,

Glad you worked out the problem with posting. Thanks for updating me on the cause…Internet Explorer can be a bit of a nightmare at times but I hadn’t heard about this.

I couldn’t see your design file upload, so I’ve attached here the one you sent over before.

Ness should be in touch soon. Could you just say if you would like the CabinetFile Lite service where we send you the workshop document without reviewing the design (free of charge to Full members).

The other option is for us to check it over and revise if necessary. This does cost extra though (£95).

Just let us know.

That said, whichever option you go with, Ness of course can talk over the adjustable shelves issue before processing things if you like. Did you have certain hardware or a method in mind for doing this?

Cheers,

Stefan

Hi Stefan

Please use the Cabinet Lite Service.

Thanks

Dear Stefan

I must apologize, It is Internet Explorer blocking me to operate in your forum.

Attached please find the PolyBoard file.

The shelves must be adjustable. ( Also to use as a book shelve) ( ignore  PDF file send) .

I am going to paint it.

I am staying in a rural area and my hardware options are very limited.

Thanks

Wolfie
