Hi everyone……open to all and any replies on this.

I love polyboard but the more of the cabinet and furniture work that I do the more I ask myself about the limitations with the displaying dimensions ability of the software.

I find the lack of displaying internal dimensions of say a wardrobe hanging space, or drawer heights or pigeon holes etc frustrating.

Same for bookshelves etc. Whilst you may have secured the work the customer still wants to know (by visible display) that their things are going to fit and things are going to be built exactly as they want.

Whilst I can send the file to Ness for a sketchup DXF export this is limited to once a month. If I’m having to change things for the customer on a particular project several times then this isn’t ideal.

I tried on the last job to just present a plan in polyboard to the customer and then added internal dims with Jing software. As we all know Jing as a useful piece of kit for crudely displaying something quickly to someone over the internet with the arrows and text etc but hardly ideal for looking professional to clients (some of whom are auto cad and sketch up designers)…….it leaves you feeling a bit tech awkward and incompetent.

How do others deal with this? or any advice. And will polyboard evolve to display more dimensions on a project?

Another question is can I re-dimesion things fairly easily in Sketchup if Ive got a DXF from Ness and how easy is it to learn how to do this?

Cheers
