Hi Grover,

Nesting is slower cutting panels than sawing. It’s main advantage is that it machines and cuts in the same operation without manual intervention. This enable the general manufacturing process to be around 30% faster that sawing and then sorting parts and putting them individually onto a CNC for machining.

This makes nesting much more efficient for small to medium volume production.

For high volumes with a lot of repeat tooling,  it’s faster to saw and machine.

If you need perfectly cut panels when using sawing and machining production, you should use over sizing and a calibration cut on the cnc.

Best regards,

Ness

Hello Ness,

We need to edge all sides of the panel. Some hardware fittings require routing 120mm deep on the side of the panel. We only want nesting to have a perfect square.

Thanks,

Grover

Hi Grover,

Please note that Optinest only produces cutting maps in DXF output so you have to tool path these in a CAM software.

This said it’s perfectly feasible to output only the outlines and have files without tooling. On the other hand I don’t see the advantage over cutting with a saw and using Opticut.

Why do you want to use Optinest to cut panels without machining?

Best regards,

Ness

I think that Ness can probably better inform you than me about this solution

Can we follow up Ness for this one, please?

Thanks,

Grover

Hello Alex,

My boss wanna ask if this is possible for OptiNest? Can we remove vertical drilling and grooving and leave OptiNest just for cutting panels? Hoping for your prompt reply.

Thanks,

Grover

Hi,

Polyboard can not yet separate these 2 operations on its own for this particular request

It will work in two stages with different post-processor configurations.

1st step export the files in a first folder with the option to give previously “outline > ignore”
here to call “TPA_CN_OT_IGNR”

TPAOTIGNR-1.pngImage Enlarger

2nd steps
-Create a 2nd post-processor with the option “outline > export” by duplicating the post processor to keep the other configuration identical that we will call “TPA_CN_OT_EXP” for example

TPAOTEXP.pngImage Enlarger

-Remove fixing links by selecting all cabinet in project mode and apply sub-method with NIL link

Or just apply this NIL sub-methodes link in single cabinet mode

NiL-SM-2.pngImage Enlarger

-export to a new folder with the post processor creates previously “TPA_CN_OT_EXP”

But this solution don’t separate grooves,

Or using Opticut with Post-Pro export?!

I think that Ness can probably better inform you than me about this solution

Hope it’s help you

All the best, Alex

Hello Alex,

Yes please, we need outline command for cutting squares and a separate one(tooling) for grooves and boring.

Thanks,
Grover

Hi Grover,

I don’t know TPACAD either, but if the line of code is the outline of the panel you can delete it by setting the “Export whole outline” option the PP options to “Ignore”.

Best regards,

Ness

Hi Ness,

Would it be possible for Polyboard to separate the outline command?

Thanks,
Grover
