Hi,

The idea is something like this photo.

But With the sketch i have created. So only the second flight of stairs needs to be suspended.

The first flight can have a cut-string on one side and stringboard on the other, hidden in a wall.

Hi Venassa,

I’m not sure what sort of stair you are trying to build, can you post some drawings of the stair well and the project? If you have some photos this would also help.

To suspend the steps from posts you could use balusters this will space them out and create the notches in the steps.

Is this the sort of thing you are trying to do?

All the best,

Thank you for Your reply.

I won’t busing a cut-string or stringboard because I don’t have the head Space below.

So I will be cutting notches into the treads and attaching posts that will then be suspended from a frame above.

In order to get the correct sized treads, ready for notching, is it best to mimic my posts as a cut-string or a stringboard?

ie, my Width between the posts will be 862mm. the posts are 38mm on both sides.

should i make my tread width 938mm and run a cut-string underneath?

Or should i make my tread With 862 and then add stringboards on the outside?

I’m just concerened about getting the treadline position in the right Place.

Hi Venessa,

If you place the stringer outside the stairwell the treads will be extended and still remain housed into the string.

By default the tread line will be recalculated to the middle of the steps.

To change the trendline position you can click a flight and change the Treadline Position parameter:

do I just add the stringer “outside the stairwell”

I’m just checking if i do that, that the tread peices will then slot into the stringer.

Hi,

I want to have the stringer in the wall, so it looks like the steps are floating.

How do I change my Width, so that the Central line, where i walk remains the same, and doesn’t move out to the side where the Construction is in the wall?

It is the green stringboard below that i am referring to.

also, what is a typical height and thickness of a stringboard.string-board.JPG
