Hi, added a drawing and handrail pictures. We preassemble each flight in the workshop so we like riser 6 to be housed in the first flight. Also the inner stringboard in the second flight should have an angle of maximum 45 degrees for the handrail. Straight handrails in this case. width of stringer 260mm.

Hi Joakim,
I’m actually away from my office uptill Wednesday so I can’t give you and indepth reply to your questions.
But briefly….
We can set up the layer names as necessary for WoodWop.
Even using 5 axis I would suggest that you house the stingers vertically and use the 5th axis to adjust the risers.
With StairDesigner 7 you can create export styles as necessary so you can just apply a new style to export with different parameters.
I would be nice to have a drawing with dimensions of the stair well you are working to, as well as eventually some photos, if you have them.
Any other details such as the style of the stair, handrails etc.. will help us advise you better.
Please have a look at the stair models I sent and get back to us.
All the best,
Ness
Hi,
The stair is a continuation on an existing stair and will end up in a newly decorated attic. Last step will be a landing that sits between two rafters. It is not built yet and will be made to fit the stair. We subtracted one hight for that.
Not sure exactly what landing step means. Last flight measurement of 3250 should be to the end of the stringer and not the nosing, which I suspect it is looking at it now.
There will probobly be newels and hand rails on the inside of the stair but we usually put these outside of the stringers. Is this something that is practical to draw in stairdesigner?
I think 10mm extension of the housing would be ok. Its not very clear in this case. We use a 16mm routerbit and there is a profiled stairnose this time that reveals about 12mm of the stringer at 45 degrees. For the recess not to exeed the nosing we will manually remove the 8mm radii on the step.
Also we have a 5 axis homag cnc so we need the angles for the riserspockets. Can we find these in the dxf files or directly from stairdesiger?
Is it possible for me to set up layernames for dxf import into woodwop? Or is this not part of the stairfileservice?
If we bought stairdesigner. Would it be possible, using stairdesigner7, export the steps with recess 25mm and riserthickness 17mm. Then changing manufacturing method to recess 15mm and riserthickness 16mm to export the stringers? We usually have a bit of play between the step and riser to ease assembly.
We will look at the files and get back to you tomorrow.

Hi Joakim,
Thanks for buying a StairFile and posting this project.
As the StairFile service includes an in depth review of your project, before processing the stair, can you give me a bit more information?
Could you describe where this stair goes ?
As I see it has no newels or hand rail, is this because it fixed between 2 walls?
Is there a landing step on this stair?
Any information, drawings or photos of the stair well will help me advise you on the best way to set up this project.
In StairDesigner 7 it’s not possible to make the step housings larger than the step. This is a function we have in StairDesigner 6 that is not actually available in v7.
I’ve also quickly set up you stair in v6 this will enable us to export with the step housings extended.
Note that extension of the housings is done in the DXF export file parameters and doesn’t show on the StairDesigner model. Can you tell me the diameter of the router bit so that I can set the correct extension?
Could you have a look at both the v6 and v7 models I’ve attached to this post?
You can tweak both models but if you want the extended housing I suggest you use the v6 model.
All the best,
Ness

Hi Joakim, I don’t think the file uploaded. Could you try again? Here’s a link to a video explaining the process just in case: https://vimeo.com/wooddesigner…..beb9239e37
Thanks, Stefan
