I can see the .sds file.

Are you seeing something different at the bottom there?

Hi Stefan.

The 4th down seems to be a jpg file. I downloaded and it opened a SD picture not the .sds file. Am I missing something?

Thanks

Pete

Hi Pete, 4th attachment down in the box at the bottom of Ness’s message is the .sds – need to right click, save as or similar to get it. Cheers

Hi Ness,

on the attachments all I can see are .JPG’s and no .sds file unfortunately.

Luckily for this one I can move the posts as they are not bolted up into the floor above. Just 2 x 90×45’s temp nailed under the beams- so easy to remove them, prop the floor and insert the stairs.

I will check the rest.

Oh, floor to ceiling height – or newel post height would be 2680mm.

Cheers

Pete

Hi Pete,

So that everyone can understand our problem here’s the project plans and the StairDesigner project already set up :Support-Newel-cad-snap.JPGImage Enlarger

I attach a new StairDesigner model that has the extended newels as supports for the upper floor and the sizes adjusted to your more recent drawings.

Here’s the AutoCad  drawing of the stair with dims:

This stair will work fine with the 2 newels supporting the upper floor and the handrails running between the newels.

Just have to be careful about how the stair will be constructed so that it’s manageable to install.

We will  need to know to finalise how this stair;

– what will be the top height of the support newels ?

– do the support newels have to be installed before the stair ?

– are the walls flat and plumb or do we have to give some slack (play) to the wall dimensions?

It’ll be also a good idea to have the exact position of the support newels from the right wall , your dimension of 944 is the outside of the stringer that is offset from the face of the newel by 28mm. Is this OK?

Same goes for the offset from the left wall. You have given 1370 to the right side of the support newels, is this OK?

I attach the StairDesigner file so that you tweak it if necessary.

All the best,

Ness

Hi.

onto my second set of stairs using StairDesigner but I have a bit of a conundrum…

The stair I am designing has 3 legs. 8 steps up, three winders to the left, two up, three winders to the left and two steps up.

the upper floor is supported by a couple of walls as well as two posts that could be newel posts one and two.

The thing i can’t work out is how the hand rails would go, and what would happen after the second support post/newel post.

Ness, maybe you can paste my StairDesigner screen shot as well as my CAD drawing to clarify what I am on about.

thanks!

Pete Ripley
