Face frames using external zones|Page 3|Forum|WOOD DESIGNER

Hi Tom,
If you create an Upper strip zone with a very small height you can place a double back and groove it into the top the depth of groove being the width of your rail.
To make it easier to select the upper strip volume, I’d suggest that you make it first big enough to select easily and then reduce to something like 0.01.
It’s also possible to add a nil shelf in the cabinet and put a double back in the space but the upper strip has the advantage that any uprights placed in the cabinet will meet up correctly with the top.
Hope this helpful,
Best,
Ness

Hi Ness,
Following our session this week I am using the external zones and double backs to place a face frame around a cabinet. What I am struggling with is the top rail. In our session the top rail is flush to the underside of the top, therefore extending above the face of the top of the cabinet (as do the sides). However in most applications I would like the top rail to be flush with the top face of the cabinet (the same as the bottom rail and cabinet bottom). As the external zones are created externally i’m not sure how this would work?
Regards
Tom
